Sandy is a Sports Medicine doctor who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries that arise from both competitive and non-competitive exercise. He also treats personal medical conditions that may impact on an individual’s ability to exercise.

Since graduation from medicine in 1991, Sandy has undergone post graduate training in Radiology (including musculoskeletal ultrasound), General Practice and Sports Medicine.

He is currently a registrar in the Australasian College of Sport & Exercise Physicians specialist training scheme.

As part of his practice Sandy can perform point of care musculoskeletal ultrasound to aid in the diagnosis and management of sports / musculoskeletal injuries. His areas of interest are concussion, osteoarthritis and groin pain, and he is certified to perform diving medicals. Dr Kleinschmidt's overall aim is to provide an accurate diagnosis and management plan to enhance the individuals return to sport, physical performance and ultimately a healthier active lifestyle.

Sandy currently provides Sports Medicine education for Sports Medicine Australia (SA Branch) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
