Keeping you moving

GPEx

Since 2016, we have been an accredited training practice for GP Registrars. These Registrars are qualified doctors who have completed their hospital-based years and are training in the specialty of General Practice and undertaking an extended skills training program in Sports Medicine.

In providing GP training, we work closely with GPEx, South Australia’s regional training organisation for education and training of doctors who choose to specialise in General Practice. GPEx delivers the AGPT (Australia General Practice Training) program, which is funded by the Australian Department of Health.

Supervisors of the GP Registrar Program include Dr Marc Cesena, Dr Elizabeth Clisby, Dr James Ilic, Dr Mark Ralfe and Dr Steve Kennett.

GP Registrars who have an opportunity to undertake training at Wakefield Sports and Exercise Medicine Clinic also gain experience by working closely with amateur and elite sporting teams as well as the Wakefield Orthopaedic Clinic surgeons.

For GP Registrars, GPEx offers a well-supported and individualised, self-directed journey to becoming a qualified specialist GP through expert led education and training, providing the foundation for GP Registrars to achieve their potential.

At times, we also have nursing and medical students undertaking placements at our practice.
