MBBS FRACGP, SMSMA Sports Medicine in General Practice Course

WS+EMC since: 2020

Following three years of hospital specialty training, Dr Young has spent the past 27 years working in General Practice in Adelaide.

As a self-confessed sports nut, and wife and mother of a very active family, Dr Young has a keen interest in sports and exercise medicine. She completed the SASMA Sports Medicine in General Practice Course in 2007 and, since then, has worked in voluntary roles as the doctor for local club football teams and baseball teams. She has also provided locum medical support to the North Adelaide Football Club and Port Adelaide Football Club in the SANFL, and more recently to North Adelaide in the WSANFL. She was also team doctor for the Adelaide Lightning in the WBNL in 2015.

For the past 14 years, Dr Young has worked as a surgical assistant for Dr Richard Pope (WOC Upper Limb surgeon).

She was also fortunate enough to travel with the Hockeyroos in 2010 and 2011 as their doctor for the Hockey World Cup and Champions Trophy events overseas – a highlight of her sports medicine involvement to date.

Dr Young is interested in all aspects of sports medicine and in exercise as critical to general health.
